Weather Worn

iso 400, f5, ss 1/200, auto

More about Warrnambool. The name Warrnambool is derived from an aboriginal word meaning "water between the rivers". So as well as the ocean and the lakes, we have two rivers. the Hopkins on the eastern side of town and the Merri to the west. You'll be seeing a lot of water shots over the next 12 months. This is the side of a bridge that goes over the Merri River. Looking at this pic now I think I should have cropped a little more off the left side, and that light patch in the middle is really annoying.

This one was take down at the beach. There is a break water, and a few small jetties. Sometimes you see a seal around here, but not today. I really liked the colour of the wood against the light pipes. I don't like how the top of the jetty almost (but not quite) lines up with the beach. My lesson for the day is take note of the background before I shoot.

All comments, advice and HHCC welcome and appreciated. Thanks

Proof that we are all our own worst critics! :)

I love weather worn wood and it looks cool with the little bit of green grass.

The second shot is a great perspective. And I love that we are all learning to pay attention to those little details.

I love the texture of old wood. Great color and love the reflection. I too am trying to train my eye so see the small detail. The lines don't stand out to me, this photos works for me!

I like the crop on the first shot...I wouldn't change a thing. Funny, if you hadn't pointed out the horizon on the second one, I wouldn't even have noticed LOL. I was too busy looking at the awesome texture you captured.

Great color and clarity! I think the crop you have on #1 works well, but I also think your new thought on it would work.

Patti - I love your posts! I think the reflections, particularly in the first one, are awesome! I have tried and tried to pick up reflections in shots, and I never have any luck...
