Shane
He lugs my camera equipment, he laughs at my jokes (sometimes), he makes me warm milo at bedtime. He is my best friend.
Shane always wears this hat (it's his football team). My problem is that in all the shots I took in the sun, there was a shade over his eyes from the hat. How do I avoid this?
Thank you for all the comments about yesterdays pic. I have taken your advice and adjusted the lightness and contrast. I think it's better, thank you. I think this pic looks like a photo out of an old textbook.
This one is an out take from yesterday. Again the original wasn't much so I lightened and brightened.

i love your stuff girl!!! just went back and looked at your last few posts. The glasses pic is so fun and I love how vibrant the colors are.
very cool stuff! i'll keep checking your blog out...:)
not too sure about the shadows caused by the hat---i had the same thing happen this weekend with my dh. interested to hear what others say....
I LOVE the name of your blog...so original! I am clueless...what is warm milo? Nice photo of your Shane.
Very nice pictures. You can brighten his eyes by having some sort of reflector around. Even the light bouncing off of concrete would help.
I LOVE that pic of the glasses...great job! I wanna know too---what's warm milo?!
My advice, shoot a little lower and up into his face. Better yet tell him to take the hat off, LOL. Fun shot of the glasses.
great pics! I don't know about shadows either but the first thing I thought was take the hat off, lol....:) but I know that's easier said then done...I have a hat wearer too :)
I love how you have framed the shot of Shane. And the new version of yesterday's picture looks great!
Thanks for the comments and suggestions, I will have to give the reflector a go (If he takes his hat off he will have really bad "hat hair"). Milo is a chocolate malt powder you mix up with milk, so its kinda like hot chocolate or cocoa. I always thought it was English, but I just googled it and discovered it is as Australian as Vegemite. If fact it comes from just near where I grew up. Who says the internet isn't educational. :)
At first glance, I would have thought Shane was a pro baseball player. Have you ever noticed if baseball players' pics are shadowed? Great capture.
You always do such nice work.
Funny, on my earlier comment I was in the easy chair with low light w/the laptop and I seen the likeness to a baseball player.
Now I am in my office with light and a big monitor on the desktop and I don't see that anymore. Just see a wam, smiling face. Plus the shadows seem less noticeable.
Patti all your photos are just inspiring. I am still shaking my head in wonder.
Love the new edit on the old pic. I agree with you, looks like it could be out of an old text book.
Shadows? You could try using fil flash... dial the flash exposure comp way down so that it really is just a lick of flash. Another thing you could try, is to shoot him backlit. If you turn him away from the sun, his whole face should be in shadow, then you just bump the exposure and... voila!
